Family owned whisky makers William Grant & Son has seen its turnover increase 14% during 2010.
Growth was helped by their acquisition of Irish whiskey Tullamore Dew as well as a major marketing push on their headline Glenfiddich malt whisky brand.
Total turnover for the year was £951.5 million and operating profit came in at £132.4m (from £103.6m in 2009).
The BBC website quoted chief exec Stella David as saying: “The acquisition of Tullamore Dew, the continued investment behind our brands and the group’s infrastructure along with improvements in our route to market helped deliver some good results for 2010, despite difficult trading conditions around the world.
“We shall continue to focus on becoming the most coveted branded spirits company in the world, to remaining independent, in an increasingly consolidated industry, and to investing in our portfolio of award-winning brands to secure the long-term future of the business.”
