Sales of Whyte & Mackay look set to help parent company United Spirits Ltd (USL) to over 30% growth in sales in India this year.
USL already commands 23% of the Indian Scotch market and hope to increase this with premium brands from both Whyte & Mackay and Black Dog, reports indianexpress.com.
Anant Iyer, head of Luxury brands at USL, said: “India is one of the most rapidly growing Scotch markets, with a growth of 30 per cent year on year. We expect to grow ahead of the market.”
“Whyte & Mackay has given our Scotch aspirations a significant fillip, giving us a competitive edge over other Scotch marketers,” he added.
Although he said significant investment had been made in the brand since USL purchased it in 2007, Iyer declined to give actual volumes for Whyte & Mackay sales in India.
