Whiskeys from two craft distilleries in Virginia were served up to distinguished guests at the Governor’s mansion, as part of the Commonwealth Governor’s campaign to promote more Virginian produce.

Spirits from Catoctin Creek and Copper Fox were on the pour list for the evening, with all the guests going home with gift sets of the drinks.

In a media release, Governor McDonnell said: “Virginia has a rich history of distilled spirits dating back to George Washington’s successful whiskey distillery at Mount Vernon, and with the emergence of craft distilling, the Commonwealth is once again taking its place as a top producer of premium spirits products.”

Guests were able to try Catoctin Creek’s Roundstone Rye as well as Copper Fox’s award winning Wasmund’s Rye and single malt whiskeys.

“We are very proud to have our products served at the Executive Mansion,” said Scott Harris, founder of Catoctin Creek Distillery. “Virginia has been a rising star in the wine industry, and we aim to prove that the Commonwealth is also a top producer of whiskey, gin and brandy.”
