The Japanese-owned Tomatin distillery has agreed a new arrangement with global banking giant HSBC, which it intends to use to finance an increase in the range of single malts they produce.
The distillery in Inverness was bought by Japanese drinks group Takara Shuzo in 1985 and previously concentrated on production for blended whiskies.
They already have four single malt offerings, which they hope to expand sales of in export markets using the international experience of HSBC.
The Scotsman newspaper quoted Tomatin’s chief exec, Robert Anderson, as saying: “HSBC was extremely proactive in assisting our overseas sales team with local market knowledge and potential routes to market before any formal talks had taken place.”
The distillery is also responsible for the Talisman and Antiquary whiskies.
