Speyside singel malt, The Macallan, is to introduce a new range this year, launching it in the UK in the autumn.
The 1824 Series, as the new range will be known has been brought to market following “extensive work with distributors Maxxium UK, and other key market partners, to meet the growing demands for The Macallan”, according to a company press release.
The new range will be 100% matured in sherry casks and focus on The Macallan’s natural colour as well as full-bodied aroma and flavour, but will not carry an age statement.
Ken Grier, Director of Malts, Edrington said: “The 1824 Series will introduce a new approach to The Macallan in the UK market for single malt drinkers to enjoy and underlines our ongoing commitment to leading innovation.
“The move represents a major step in the evolution of The Macallan and we are extremely excited to be introducing this into the UK market first.”
