The Famous Grouse is sponsoring a world record attempt in Perth this year. The Perthshire distiller is hoping to help charities by breaking the world record for the most runners in a race – wearing kilts!

The current world record is actually held by the city of Perth in Ontario, Canada, and the good folk at The Famous Grouse are keen to see the record come back to the birthplace of the plaid.

So on 2 June, as part of the Diamond Jubilee weekend they are sponsoring the Perth Kilt Run – an eight-kilometre jog on the banks of the silvery Tay.

The Canadian record-holders managed to get 1,089 runners in kilts at their event, so organisers of the Perth event are aiming to sign up 2,000.

You can sign up to run at www.perthkiltrun.co.uk/. All monies raised will be divided between The Soldiers Charity and local volunteer group PKAVS.
