Japanese distillers Suntory are releasing an exclusive sherry cask bottling of their Hakushu single malt at the end of this month.
The Hakushu 2012 Sherry cask is bottled at 48% abv and will retail for approximately 9,000 yen. Only 4,300 bottles are available, reports the Nonjatta blog.
Hakushu, the “distillery in the forest”, sits in the 700m above sea level in the foothills of Mount Kaikomagatake.
Second only to Yamizaki in the Japanese whisky market, sales of Hakushu have increased 111% in the last year.
The Hakushu 12 year old malt picked up a Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2011.
