Edinburgh’s Scotch Whisky Experience on site shop had its most successful week’s sales ever earlier this month.
The Scotsman newspaper reported that the store saw tills ring up more than £42,000-worth of sales, including 37 of their rarest bottles.
The sales included a £10,000 bottle of Highland Park 50 and a similarly-priced bottle of Ardbeg Double Barrel.
The newspaper quoted retail manager Keith Mackay as saying: “For half a dozen of these bottles to be sold would be special, but for 37 to disappear off the shelves is truly astonishing.”
The retail store at the five-star visitor attraction re-opened in April after a £1 million refurbishment.
