Glencairn Crystal has been awarded ‘Industry Leader of the Year’ by the whisky magazine, Malt Advocate.
The East Kilbride-based family firm said that they were “thrilled” to gain the recognition for their work in creating quality presentation packaging for the whisky industry.
Glencairn’s founder Raymond Davidson told the Glasgow Evening times that the award recognised a decade of commitment by the firm.
Raymond said: “To be named Industry Leader of the Year in an environment dominated by international whisky and blending companies is a tremendous accolade.
“About a decade ago we worked with leaders in the whisky blending industry to design a glass that would capture all the nuances of a fine whisky, while also being functional.”
The firm has developed a reputation for the creation of presentation for elite bottlings and worked with Dalmore to make a unique decanter for the launch of their 58-year-old single malt which retailed for £10,000.
Davidson added: “The Glencairn whisky glass was born and it has been a huge success, with annual sales of more than one million worldwide.”
