Master of Malt have announced that they are the first online retailer to stock The Glenlivet 70 Years Old.
The exclusive malt went on sale last week after being unveiled at a special 1940s-themed event at Edinburgh Castle.
The whisky, which has been described as “stupendous”, was distilled at the Glenlivet distillery on the 4th February 1940 during the height of the Battle of Britain.
It was then put into a sherry cask where it has matured for 70 years developing a character which is said to be “voluptuous”.
Master of Malt will retail the special malt with a price tag of £13,000 per 700ml decanter and £3,200 for 20cl.
The Glenlivet 70 Years Old is the latest addition to the ‘Generations’ range from renowned Scotch whisky brand Gordon and MacPhail, and follows the success of their 70-year-old Mortlach single malt in 2010.
