You read it right, according to Palomar College’s Telescope student newspaper these started off in “chic New York bars” and are now to be found in bars in California too.
The recipe is one shot of whiskey to one shot of brine from a pickle jar – or a jar of jalapenos if you fancy real kick allegedly.
The whiskey of choice for the shot is Jameson it seems, and we’re sure that the Irish distiller will so pleased to hear that.
According to the Telescope’s report, the pickle brine actually takes the burn off the whisky. Admittedly by replacing it with the taste of salt and vinegar….
