The Lakes Distillery, the new whisky distiller setting up in Cumbria in the north of England, is offering whisky aficionados the chance to invest in the venture, by purchasing membership of their Founders’ Club.
The first 100 casks of whisky produced at the distillery are being put aside for Founders’ Club members and will not be available for the general public. Instead members will be invited to join the distillery in observing the whisky as it ages.
Each year for the first ten years, members will receive a bottle of The Lakes Malt along with two miniatures to taste or collect, allowing them to see how the maturing whisky is developing.
In addition, Founders’ Club members will be able to access updates and blogs from the distillery and be first in the know to what they’re doing – down to knowing when the barrels have been delivered before they’ve even been unloaded from the lorry. Members will also receive a lifetime 10% discount on all purchases, as well as a free tour every time they visit the distillery.
According to the distillers’ website this chance will never be repeated. It is a rare opportunity to own a piece of historic whisky distilling.
Founders’ Club membership costs £595 (or £495 if purchased by 31st December 2011) and more details can be found at http://www.lakesdistillery.com/founders-club.
