James Storrar is the top malt barley grower

James Storrar of George Storrar (Farmers) Ltd has been named Scotland’s most professional malting barley grower of 2010.

The grower impressed judges¬†Steve Hoad, agricultural economist Julian Bell and Eddie Douglas of Bairds Malt Ltd, with his expertise at the 2010 Maltsters Association of Great Britain’s Malting Barley Grower Competition.

The panel told scotlandfoodanddrink.org that they were impressed with the high standard of entries.

James was selected after impressing the judges with his “attention to detail, good storage facilities, precise knowledge of production costs and effective marketing strategy”.

Storrar was presented with an award certificate and a cheque for £200 during a special presentation lunch which was held in his honour at Glenturret Distillery.
