India’s

Antiquity whisky

has collected a silver award at the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America Conference last week – billed as the the largest liquor convention in the world.

The award in the conference’s Spirits Tasting competition comes as a spot relief for beleaguered owner Vijay Mallya, and his United Breweries (UB) Group, who also own Whyte & Mackay, Dalmore and Jura.

The Antiquity was introduced to the American market in selected stores last year, reports the International Business Times.

UB Group President for the Americas, Tony Bedi, Said: “We are known to be an innovator in the liquor industry. Our brands enjoy 59 per cent of the market share in India, and we’re proud to be introducing Indian whisky and vodka to the selective liquor consumers in America.”

As well as the Antiquity, visitors to the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers Conference were also able to sample UB’s Royal Challenge Whisky – another blend of domestic Indian and imported Scotch whiskies.
