Ian Macleod’s Distillers’ whisky brands are to take pride of place at one of the Edinburgh Fringe’s premier venues as it re-opens after a major refurbishment.

The Assembly Rooms on George Street have played host to thousands of top acts over the years and 2012 sees the iconic venue re-launched, with Ian Macleod being the official Whisky Partner for the venue.

Their Glengoyne Single Malt, Isle of Skye 8 Years Old and Smokehead Single Islay Malt will be the only whiskies available in the bars in the Assembly Rooms and The Famous Spiegeltent which will be situated outside in a section of George Street which is being closed to traffic.

Commercial Director, Neil Boyd, said in a press release: “Undoubtedly the newly opened Assembly Rooms is the most exciting venue at this year’s Fringe Festival. The closure of part of one of Edinburgh’s most famous streets to accommodate the venue and to attract even more visitors will provide terrific exposure for our Glengoyne, Smokehead and Isle of Skye brands.

“Not only will these be the only whiskies sold, in keeping with the premium nature of the Assembly Rooms, the brands will be displayed prominently on the interior and exterior of this smart new venue.”
