Japanese whisky maker Suntory have sent out the latest cocktail recipe in their series for each of the 24 Japanese seasons, the Hakushu Ritto (Japanese hot toddy).
Seemingly the Japanese raise one in early November to acknowledge the first sign of winter, something with which we are all now no doubt familiar.
Created by Suntory Brand Ambassador Zoran Peric, the Hakushu Ritto combines the subtle tastes and aromas of a 12 year old single malt whisky with hot tea to stimulate the taste buds in colder weather.
The recipe is two parts Hakushu 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky to three parts green tea, along with a teaspoon of runny honey, pinch of powdered ginger and a squeeze of lemon juice. Served in a mug with a slice of fresh ginger to garnish.
Suntory single malt whiskies are available from: Harrods, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, The Whisky Exchange.com, independent specialist retailers and www.drinkon.com.
