Chivas Brothers’ Glenlivet is celebrating picking up two out of the three top awards at this year’s Spirit of Speyside Whisky Awards.
The awards, which were presented at this year’s festival opening dinner at The Macallan, celebrate the best commercially available Speyside malts in three categories – 12 Years Old and Under, 13 to 20 Years Old and Over 20 Years Old.
The Glenlivet took the top prize in the youngest category, while their 15 Year old French Oak expression won the 13 to 20 category, reports the Planet Whiskies site.
Knockando’s 2011 Special Reserve, 25 Years Old was the winner in the final category.
Invoking the name of Glenlivet’s founder, master distiller, Alan Winchester, said: “For The Glenlivet to win two such awards this year is a bonus and a testament to the work by many of my colleagues over the last 12 and 15 years that it took to make those whiskies. I think George Smith would have been proud!”
