A fundraising tournament for the service charity Help for Heroes has been hailed as a great success by organisers, after twenty four teams from across the UK took part in the Glengoyne Auld Enemy Diamond Jubilee Golf Day.

The Golf Day and Gala Dinner took place on Friday, 24 August at The Fairmount St Andrews and was supported by Scottish rugby legend, Gavin Hastings, and military and corporate personnel from across the UK with a team from golf’s governing body, the R&A, sneaking the win from 2 SCOTS (the Second Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland) with a superb putt on the last hole.

A silent auction and raffle were held at the gala fundraising dinner that evening.

Neil Boyd, Commercial Director at Ian Macleod Distillers, said in a media release: ‘‘Following the success of the Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Whisky inaugural 2012 Auld Enemy Dinner in February, we were delighted to be part of another fantastic fundraising event in support of Help for Heroes. These events have raised more than £20,000 for the charity.

“Although I am disappointed the Scots didn’t win this year, we recognise and celebrate the passion that is synonymous with this great rivalry, and we will be back next year determined to claim the title”.
