American online specialist ForScotchLovers.com have announced that, thanks to their “connections”, they have managed to source a few bottles of the exceptionally rare Glengoyne 40 Years Old – of which, only 250 bottles were ever made.
And as they say in their release notes “opportunities like this don’t come along every day.”
Unlike most other distilleries, Glengoyne air dries their barley rather than using peat smoke, resulting in a more subtle, complex whisky in which all of the delicate flavours are freely allowed to express themselves.
The limited edition whisky was distilled in November 1968 and bottled in 2009 and comes in an elegant Glencairn crystal decanter, housed in a solid oak presentation box. The lacquered, piano finished, solid oak box features gold plates on the front and a hand-stitched cream leather interior, along with an outer leather carry case and cloth bag for further protection.
Glengoyne Limited Edition Forty Years Old Single Malt Whisky is available at $5,400/ Bottle from www.forscotchlovers.com.
