The Famous Grouse has a new member in their family, but this is no new blended whisky. Instead the whisky maker have finally got themselves a new distillery cat – and he needs a name.
After a three month search, Scotland’s best-selling whisky has welcomed an adorable ginger kitten to take over the role of distillery cat at the Glenturret Distillery.
Cats have long played a part at Glenturret Distillery, where The Famous Grouse Experience opened its doors 10 years ago, with the newest recruit following in the footsteps of the likes of Brooke and Towser – who still holds the Guinness World Record for best mouser having caught 28,899 mice in her 24 years at the distillery.
The new kitten, donated to the distillery by a local farmer, will not need to worry about hunting mice, but will have the run of Glenturret an can concentrate on welcoming the 100,000-plus visitors each year who visit the Perthshire attraction.
The on thing missing for the cat is a name, however, and The Famous Grouse is offering a VIP tour of the distillery, complete with travel and accomodation, to the whisky fan who comes up with most appropriate moniker for their new feline friend.
