The local authority which covers the town of Bushmills in Northern Ireland has volunteered to assist with the town’s Salmon and Whiskey Festival next month.

Moyle District Council is to assist with marketing and advice for the festival, which also takes place on council-owned land, reports the Ballymoney Times.

Although unable to provide personnel to man the event, the council will carry out risk assessments and health and safety checks, as well as provide clean-up after the event.

The festival, organised by the Bushmills Traders Association’s community group, will feature whiskey from the Diageo-owned Bushmills Distillery.
