To mark the 18th anniversary of their Friends of Laphroaig customer relationship programme (read “fab club”), the distillery is inviting its friends to help them come up with an official Friends of Laphroaig tartan.
According to their website, the Friends of Laphroaig have helped to create the FOL crest, the “much loved” quarter cask expression, and even re-design the Islay malt’s web presence.
To mark the 18th anniversary, Friends are being asked to design a tartan for the society on an app available on the Laphroaig website at laphroaig.com/friends/.
You have to be an official “Friend” to design a tartan, but the general public can vote for their favourite at laphroaig.com/tartan/. One overall winner will be chosen from the top 20 by the distillery team.
The winner will receive a kilt produced to their design by Gordon Covell of the Islay Woollen Mill.
