Having recently moved into the duty free market, Bruichladdich is planning expansion into Australia with the appointment of SouthTrade International to import and distribute their brands.

The distributors plan to initially launch five different expressions from the Islay distiller – including their 10 Year Old and Laddie Classic – as well as the distiller’s Botanist Gin.

Australian drinks site The Shout quoted SouthTrade’s Tony Stubley as saying: “From barley to barrel to bottle this is Islay single malt from the Hebridean Island made by local people. Nothing else can capture the character of this iconic area.”

Stubley insisted Bruichladdich made a perfect fit to the brands already in their portfolio.

Bruichladdich announced last month that it had accepted a bid of £58million for their business from French drinks giant Remy Cointreau.
