Independent Highland brewery Black Isle has released an Imperial Stout aged in Bruichladdich malt whisky casks, fittingly titled ‘Black Islay’.
To fit in with the brewery’s ethos, only the casks used for Bruichladdich’s organic whisky have been used. As such Black Isle are pretty sure the Black Islay is a world first – a 100% organic Scottish beer aged in 100% organic Scottish whisky casks.
The Black Islay is bottled at 8.4% abv and retails for £14.99 for a 750ml bottle, available from their website at www.blackislebrewery.com.
A one-off beer with all bottles are individually numbered the contents should age extremely well, according to the brewer’s notes. They also recommend pairing it with a whisky, such as Bruichladdich Octomore.
