Diageo is releasing its new platinum brand extension of Johnnie Walker into the American market, a new 18 year old variant from master blender Jim Beveridge.

The Drinks International website quotes Regional Director Gregorio Gutierrez, as saying: “Johnnie Walker Platinum Label is the richest, most precious, crafted 18 year old Blended Scotch Whisky John Walker & Sons has ever created – its price point reflects this.

“It is a thoroughly modern interpretation of the ‘private blends’ that our company has produced from the very beginning and is a contemporary blended scotch whisky that is perfect for exclusive occasions.”

The Platinum Label will retail at $86 a bottle, at the top end of the range, and will roll out to global travel retail in the first half of 2012.

Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve will also be launched at a trade fair in Florida this month.
