Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey is releasing a limited edition gold medal gift set in London this summer – but insists it is nothing to do with the Olympics.

In what could be seen as “guerilla marketing” by some, the gift box will include a 1L bottle of Jack Daniel’s and two engraved glasses.

The gold medals the limited edition celebrates were won by the whiskey in London almost a century ago at the Anglo-American Exhibition of 1914 and Institute of Hygiene in 1915.

The special edition whiskey will be available at World Duty Free in London airports, and the retailer’s Nigel Sanders was quoted by thespiritsbusiness.com as saying: “One of our main focuses is to offer our customers travel retail exclusives – unique products which they won’t find on the high street.

“We actively work with our brand partners to develop these exclusive products and the Jack Daniel’s Limited Edition Double Gold Medal Bottle and Gift Pack is a perfect example. The product presentation is exceptional and we are confident that customers will want to buy this distinctive and unique gift pack.”

The limited ‘gold medal’ edition of Jack Daniel’s will retail for £75.
