With the Spirits categories of the 2012 International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) having been decided in the last couple of weeks, The Whisky Exchange blog has given a handy breakdown on some of the highlights in the whisky categories.
IWSC Trophies for Scotch whiskies went to Glenmorangie 25 year old (Single Malt – Over 15 Years), Singleton of Glen Ord 15 year old (Single Malt – 15 Years and Under), Balvenie Tun 1401 (Singel Malt – No Age Stated), Cutty Sark Tam O’Shanter (Blended Malt) and Glenglassaugh 1966 45yo collected the Whyte & Mackay Trophy for Cask Strength Scotch Whisky.
In addition, King Car Conductor Single Malt Whisky from Taiwan won the IWSC Trophy for Worldwide Whiskey.
In total, Scotch whiskies collected 336 medals including 74 Gold (or Gold Outstanding) awards, 239 Silver (and Silver Outstanding) and 23 bronze.
