Glen Garioch have released a new 1995 vintage small batch release single malt.

The latest release, only the sixth special edition from the distillers, was distilled just after Glen Garioch re-opened in 1995 after being mothballed for two years and used some of the last barley to be malted and peated on-site at the Oldmeldrum facility.

Only 100 cases of the 1,000 produced will be released to the UK market, reports whiskymag.com.

Master blender, Rachel Barrie, said: “This really takes me home to Inverurie, my gran’s kitchen was always filled with the smell of pancakes and maple syrup, honey drizzled waffles and apple strudel. These warm, spicy flavours are true Glen Garioch.

“With limited availability in the UK, and based on the blistering success of our previous small batch releases, whisky aficionados will need to be quick out of the blocks.”

The Glen Garioch 1995 Vintage small batch release, bottled at 55.3% ABV, is available from specialist retailers for around £55.
