A boutique distillery in Fort Worth has released its first product, a uniquely Texan blended whiskey.
Firestone and Robertson Distilling Company have launched their TX Blended Whiskey as an alternative to Canadian blends, the most commonly purchased whiskey in the Lone Star State.
The company, set up by Leonard Firestone and Troy Robertson, intend to follow up with a straight bourbon in 2014, but wanted to start off with a whiskey which was immediately approachable, reports the Dallas Morning News.
Firestone told them: “We wanted to pursue a whiskey product that was, number one, very approachable. By which we mean very smooth, easy to drink, not a large flash of alcohol.
“Given it’s a premium, our goal was to create something with a lot of body, traditional bourbon-whiskey characteristics, without that spiciness that some people object to.”
TX Blended, Whiskey can be found throughout the state, retailing for approximately $40.00.
