The Edrington Group have announced an additional variant of its Cutty Sark blended whisky as part of a re-vamp of the brand, which it bought two years ago.

The new Cutty Sark Storm has been created by Master Blender Kirsteen Campbell and contains a higher proportion of malts from Edrington’s Macallan and Highland Park distilleries, as well as grain from the North British Distillery in Edinburgh which they co-own with Diageo.

The Cutty Sark Storm is intended to replace the Cutty Sark Black and Blended Malt, both of which are being discontinued along with the 15 year old.

The new look Cutty Sark range will consist of the original, Storm and 12 and 18 year old expressions, with the addition of limited editions such as the 25 year old Tam O’Shanter.

Harpers.co.uk quoted brand controller Jason Craig, as saying: “Full of intriguing, complex flavours, intensity and drama, Cutty Sark Storm is a smouldering whisky; it is like Cutty Sark on steroids.”

RRP for the Cutty Sark Storm is expected to be around £20 per bottle.
