Glenfiddich

The master distiller at Glenfiddich owner, William Grant & Sons, has re-created a century-old whisky from a recipe written by the founder of the company and distillery.

Brian Kinsman used only those techniques and facilities that were available to Grant in 1912 to re-create Grant’s Stand Fast.

The Spirit Business website quoted Kinsman as saying: “As a master blender we learn how to make whisky by knowledge handed down in person from one master blender to the next. It’s why it takes around a decade of training to take on the title.

“The new Grant’s Stand Fast is special and is very close to what William Grant created back in 1912. Today, Grant’s is a highly awarded whisky by the experts, this shows that what William created over 100 years ago was a great tasting whisky.”

Unfortunately the 100 bottles which were created during the experiment will not be available for sale to the general public, instead being being kept with the recipe at Grant’s Dufftown home.
