Glacier Distilling of Coram, Montana have joined forces with a local craft brewery in a unique collaboration.

As part of their mission of encouraging patrons to “Drink Local”, the distillers produced whisky from the Great Northern Brewing Company’s popular Wheatfish beer.

They worked with Joe Barberis of Great Northern to come up with the ideal Wheatfish to use as the base for distillation, producing what they describe as a sweet and slightly spicey whisky, according to the Flathead Beacon.

Barberis told the paper: “The blend of grains will just give a nice mellowness and different flavor to the whiskey. I always thought this would be a cool idea.”

Nicolas Lee, one of three partners in Glacier Distilling, described it as his favourite whisky they produce.
